Gateway and ComStar

Gateway and ComStar

The data collector for easy remote reading and the future of remote reading.

The Engelmann Gateway makes remote reading of consumption data child’s play. The gateway is not only used to collect, filter and decode wireless M-Bus telegrams, but also to automatically transmit them to your server, e-mail address or the Data Service Platform. You also have the option of flexibly setting the gateway’s send and receive times. This means that you can easily adjust the times at which data is received and forwarded to suit your needs.

In conjunction with the Configuration App and the Gateway Management Platform the successful commissioning of the radio system can be checked directly on site via smartphone. In addition, the Gateway GPRS enables independent site installation through battery operation. With a service life of up to 10 years, the Gateway is also a reliable solution in the long term. The Gateway is able to collect data from up to 1000 wireless M-Bus devices in battery mode or 1500 devices in mains mode. The collected data can be forwarded directly by the gateway or by the Data Service Platform in various file formats, either to an FTP server or via e-mail to a predefined address.

The Gateway GPRS is OMS compliant and compatible with all OMS devices. It supports OMS versions 3.0.1 or 4.0.2, making it a safe choice for anyone looking for a reliable and cost-effective solution. Together with the Gateway Management Platform, Data Service Platform and Configuration App, the Gateway forms a poweful solution for reading consumption data remotely. Choose the Gateway from Engelmann and benefit from easy and reliable remote reading of your consumption data.

The ComStar is the logical further development of the Gateway GPRS with a focus on the essentials. It represents the next generation of gateway at Engelmann and sets new standards in terms of future-proofing and flexibility. With the ComStar the consumption data of up to 2.500 OMS devices (battery operation) can be collected and securely forwarded via different LPWAN standards (Low Power Wide Area Network). The consumption data can be forwarded directly to third-party systems via LTE-M (MQTT), NB-IoT or LoRaWAN.

The connection to thrid-party systems as well as the configuration of the ComStar are made via MQTT protocoll* (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport). Alternatively the ComStar can be used with the Data Service Platform as a plug-and-play solution. In this case the consumption data is provided in the platform consolidated by property. In further interaction with the installation mode and the Configuration App, the successful commissioning of a radio system can already be ensured on site.

Due to the energy-saving LPWAN technologies the ComStar can not only be installed in environments with limited mobile network reception. But together with data collects twice a month and the exclusive raw data processing a typical battery capacitiy of 12 years operation can be obtained. The battery operation enables furthermore a location-independent installation.

The ComStar captivates with its felxibility thanks to the various configuration possibilities. This is underlined by extensively adjustable reception and transmission times. The integrated communication interfaces enable seamless integration into your system landscape as well as system-independent use.
