Engelmann at the 40th BARILGA EXPO in Mongolia
Together with the Mongolian company KHEMJILZUI Co. Ltd., we presented solutions for the precise measurement of thermal energy at this year’s BARILGA EXPO in Ulaanbaatar. Engelmann expert Milan Cervenansky represented Engelmann at the event. Why do this at all? Heat metering is gaining importance in Mongolia, especially against the backdrop of regulatory developments in the energy sector. From September 11 to 13, 2026, attendees gathered at the 40th BARILGA EXPO at the Buyant-Ukhaa Palace in Ulaanbaatar. More than 400 companies and organizations were represented. Over 100 companies from more than 20 countries presented solutions in the fields of building services engineering, green building, energy efficiency, and more. This anniversary edition of the trade show also celebrated 100 years of the modern construction industry in Mongolia. The significance of the event for the Mongolian construction industry was evident at the opening ceremony: Among those in attendance was the State Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development, Construction, and Housing, M. Bayaraa, among others. The trade show also featured specialized seminars and an international B2B meeting that specifically brought together Mongolian project developers and construction companies with international manufacturers, suppliers, and technology firms.

With KHEMJILZUI at the Mongolian Market
Together with KHEMJILZUI Co. Ltd., we were represented at the trade show, where we presented solutions alongside the team and held discussions with representatives from the Mongolian market. This is because Mongolia’s Energy Law stipulates that certified heat meters must be installed at consumer points and that billing must be based on certified metering devices. At the same time, Mongolia is working to further develop consumption-based heat metering and billing. Just how relevant this is was also evident earlier this year: The Mongolian Energy Regulatory Commission held a separate meeting for this purpose with organizations authorized to install or import heat meters.
Growing Demand in a Highly Concentrated Metropolis
Ulaanbaatar plays a special role in this context. More than half of Mongolia’s population lives in the capital. Rapid growth poses significant challenges for energy supply, the housing sector, and infrastructure. Modernizing the heating supply and accurately measuring consumption can be key building blocks. For us, this development allows us to bring our expertise in measuring thermal energy to a market where the necessary conditions for consumption-based heat metering are currently being further developed.
