Social Competence

eingang_glas_test22Conscious of the fact that we design, produce and sell instruments that support energy efficiency and the conservation of limited resources, we assume responsibility for the protection of our environment.

Engelmann Sensor is a founding member of Econet, an association of German companies that supports China, its economy and enterprises, to introduce sustainable technologies and products. Engelmann heat and cooling meters provide for consumption-based billing of thermal energy used for heating and cooling in huge metropolitan areas in China, sharpening awareness for energy efficiency in such large and important high-density areas of population.

At Engelmann we also greatly value a sense of community and respect for others. We realize that our most valuable capital are our employees, who identify themselves with the competence and goals of Engelmann Sensor and maintain and strengthen our position as market leader through hard work and innovation. This is why more than 12 percent of our employees are involved with the continuous development of our products, and every employee spends 5 percent of his or her working hours for continuing education and training. The allotment of this time by Engelmann for use by the employees to continually improve their knowledge and skills is good for the company and for the employees themselves personally. Apprenticeship programs, workshops and seminars for varied topics such as project management and use of software, technical and business English courses are just some of the offerings. In addition, we also organize free time activities such as gymnastics, indoor soccer, bowling evenings, Saturday classes in self-defence, ski trips in the Alps, annual summer and winter company parties and other activities that help form a sense of team-building and togetherness.

We at Engelmann realize that companies such as ours are important pillars in the framework of providing for new generations of skilled workers. We run apprenticeship and trainee programs in the areas of mechatronics and industrial management, provide positions for students for internships, bachelor projects and masters theses, and each year on Girls’ and Boys’ Day we invite young students to Engelmann to become acquainted with the demanding field of metering technology.

We are also a member of the important business associations of our region, including the association Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar and the Rhein-Neckar Chamber of Commerce.
